Why do I need to login?

You don't need to login.    Guest users can view offers, but to ask for a quote, receive a quote or confirm a booking, you do need to register and login.  To confirm a booking, you require to complete further contact information.

To get a quote, you only need to provide a valid e-mail address and a username and password of your choice. We guarantee you that we shall use your details only for the purposes of providing you with a service you have asked for.  We won't supply your details to anyone else nor will we send you marketing e-mails.

Our system is progressive - your quotation request becomes a firm quotation which you can turn into a booking from which the invoice is generated on completion.  You can only see your own documents  and nobody can see your documents except us. This allows you to view a complete paper trail of all of your outstanding or completed jobs.

Why do you choose to use trailers rather than "recovery" style trucks?

It's personal preference, really. While a 7.5 ton truck can usually carry more in terms of payload than a trailer, a trailer is much more versatile and the regulations around running a truck are an unnecessary additional overhead in our view.  A truck based on a 3.5 ton van, will be able to carry less than the type of  trailer we utilise

Many using recovery trucks are doing so to exploit their exemption for MoT and Vehicle Excise Duty.  These trucks must not be used to transport - only recover disabled vehicles.

It's certainly not cost! For what our covered Race Shuttle transporter cost, we could have bought a nice slideback truck.

Surely, I'd be cheaper hiring a van, borrowing a trailer and doing it myself?

Possibly, but consider these points:-

What's the CVW of the van?

What's the nett weight of the van with you and all your gear in it?

What's the Gross permissible weight of the trailer?

What's the Nett weight of the trailer?

What's the weight of the vehicle being moved?

It's not your trailer - are the lights working?

Are the brakes working?

Is there a spare wheel?

How are you securing the vehicle on the trailer?

How are you getting it on?

Does your driving licence allow you to tow over 750 kg?

Are you insured for "Goods in Transit"?

What's the speed limit towing a trailer?

How much will the fuel cost?

And, if you're still determined to do it yourself, where do you find a van for hire with a towbar?

Would I not be better getting somebody local?

Not necessarily.  Obviously, if you need something moved around a local firm is more likely to be able to do it quickly for you or within your time scale, but if you are flexible in when the job can be done, it's likely that it can be done cheaper.

If for example, you need a car moved from Birmingham to Carlisle, your immediate reaction would be to get a quote from a Birmingham based company, however, if we were dropping a car in Birmingham and collecting one in Carlisle to take back to Glasgow, we'd be delighted to do your job at an extremely competitive rate.  We DETEST empty transporters.  All firms try to combine journeys and keep transporters full by use of these "return loads".  You can see our latest return load deals on our offers page
